During many old functions of British literature there are many different perspectives on the origin of evil. In Beowulf, Grendel is a monster who was exiled from culture for being a descendant of Cain. Therefore he has been considered a great outcast simply by society and therefore acts malicious against society. In Frankenstein, by Martha Shelley, Victor Frankenstein fails the organic order of life if he manages to have the secret to life and succeeds in creating a living human. Yet , upon realizing that he has created a creature, Victor flees and abandons his creature. This feeling of abandonment, not enough compassion, and requirement for appreciate is what finally causes Victor's creature to transition by good to evil and seek vengeance upon world. In Beowulf, one is introduced to Grendel, a malicious creature who has recently been isolated via society and God for being a descendant of Cain, the earliest son of Adam and Eve, whom murdered his brother Abel. From the extremely moment of his labor and birth, it was chosen whether he would be considered advantages or disadvantages in the eye of Our god and the rest of society. The following quote indicates how world and the creator viewed Grendel as nasty, " Created by a pair of those monsters born of Cain, homicidal ? bloodthirsty creatures banished By Goodness, punished forever for the crime of Abel's death. The Changeless drove Individuals demons out, and their exile was bitter, Shut from men; that they split Into one thousand forms of evil-spirits And fiends, goblins, monsters, giants, A brood permanently opposing the Lord's Will” (lines 20-29). Thus the creation of Grendel might explain the authors point of view on the origin of evil and it seems that in Beowulf, the author uses Grendel to justify that some can be born naturally evil which one does not choose to be evil or become evil.
